Fundraising Projects

The CRFC's fundraising endeavours began with the Kelowna International Marathon in the fall of 2005. Since then supporters have participated in the (May) 2007 and 2008 ING Ottawa Half-Marathon, the November 2007 OBX Marathon and Half-Marathon held at Nags Head, North Carolina, USA and in early December 2007 a dedicated Edmonton family ran the Las Vegas Marathon. These efforts have generated significant choroideremia research funding and a better understanding and awareness of the disease.

Future Events

JOIN US! On May 24th 2009 a squad of CRFC supporters who are committed to making a difference in the search for a cure for choroideremia will again fundraise and run/walk the ING Ottawa Half-Marathon. What a great incentive to get in shape! Contact Dave Furgoch furgoch@sympatico.ca for details.

What you can do to help

If you hope, like we do, that there will someday soon be a cure for choroideremia the most important thing to do is make a donation. Without funding, it just won't happen.

The CRFC is governed and run by volunteers. If you have time, skills and/or experience and wish to help by getting involved in the operation of the CRFC (areas include fundraising, research grant administration, communications, financial administration, and general corporate administration), you may wish to consider becoming a member of the CRFC. Information on the role of members within the CRFC is available in the Membership FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions).
For further information on becoming a member, or on how you may be able to help, please contact us.
